Sreemangal Tea in Bangladesh

Sreemangal is in the region of the subcontintent where the British first up their colonial tea-growing industry in the 19th century to compete with the then Chinese-dominated global tea trade. (you can read more about that here).

I’m trying to find more photos, but these were from 2004 and long before smart phones and taken on actual cameras…

I wrote a little bit about my experience visiting these tea growing areas in Sreemangal (my first time ever seeing the tea plant and tea production) for Pit Magazine here.
